The 38 stations of line 8 make it the largest in the network along with line 7. Its current route connects the Balard station to Créteil - Pointe du Lac. The first section opened in July 1913, quickly extended to Porte d'Auteuil. In 2011, the line was extended to Pointe du Lac, its current terminus. Line 8 serves the 1st to 4th, 7th to 11th, and 15th arrondissements of Paris, as well as Charenton-le-Pont, Maisons-Alfort, and Créteil. Les Invalides, Place de la Concorde, the Madeleine church, Opéra Garnier, Place de la République, Place de la Bastille, the Paris Zoological Park, Bois de Vincennes… Line 8 serves many tourist sites, which makes it quite busy.
Connections with the RER are limited to Invalides with line C and Opéra with line A. However, line 8 offers 12 metro connections across the 16 existing lines. Several tram lines are also accessible at Balard, Porte Dorée, and Porte de Charenton. Finally, since December 13, 2025, line 8 has a connection with the urban cable car C1 at the Pointe du Lac station.
Did you know? Line 8 has the unique feature of crossing over the Marne and under the Seine. It is also one of the longest lines in the Paris metro, with over 23 km of track.

The first metro train departs from the terminus at around 5:30 am. The average time between two stations is 2 minutes.
What time does the last metro train run?
From Sunday to Thursday, the last metro train arrives at the terminus at around 1:15 am. On Fridays, Saturdays, and the eve of holidays, the last metro train arrives no later than 2:15 am.

Have you lost an item? RATP offers you the possibility to report its loss in order to find it.
- Either online, directly on the website ratp.franceobjetstrouves.fr
- Or with an agent from the metro, bus, RER, or tramway network.
In both cases, you are asked to describe the lost item (type, color, brand) and provide your contact information. If the item is found, you will be notified by SMS or email, depending on the contact method you have declared.
