Metro Line 18

The future Line 18 will serve the municipalities of Orly - Paray-Vieille-Poste, Guyancourt (Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines), Saclay, Antony - Wissous, Massy, Palaiseau, Orsay – Gif-sur-Yvette, and Versailles.

To traverse these cities while preserving urban and natural spaces, this new metro includes underground sections, trenches, and a long aerial section between Palaiseau and Saclay. The aerial section is made possible by the construction of the longest viaduct in France, extending over 6.7 km.

The new stations and lines of the Grand Paris Express are currently under construction. The future Metro Line 18 is planned to be put into service in three phases. The first section of the line will be operational in 2026 between Massy - Palaiseau and Christ de Saclay. The opening of the line extension is planned for:

• 2027 for the section between Massy – Palaiseau and Paris-Orly Airport (eastern terminus),
• 2030 for the section between Christ de Saclay and Versailles – Chantiers (western terminus).

The new Metro Line 18 offers several connections:

• At Orly Airport station: with Metro Line 14, Tramway T7, and the Orlyval shuttle
• At Massy – Palaiseau station: with RER B and C lines, Tramway T12, and TGV trains
• At Versailles – Chantiers station: with RER C, Intercités Lines N and U, and TER and TGV trains.

Thanks to its service to Orly Airport and two TGV stations, Line 18 will allow travelers to easily move between the southwest of Île-de-France and more than a hundred French and international cities.

To reach central Paris from a station on the future Metro Line 18, you can take the RER B from Massy - Palaiseau or Metro Line 14 from Orly Airport, both of which reach Châtelet-les-Halles in 25 to 35 minutes. You can also choose the Intercités Line N from Versailles – Chantiers to reach Gare Montparnasse in just 15 minutes.

Beyond serving Paris-Orly Airport, Metro Line 18 will open up numerous possibilities for Île-de-France residents living southwest of Paris, as well as Parisians and travelers wishing to explore the region.

The new line will notably provide access to important cultural and historical sites, such as the city of Versailles, the Massy Opera, and the Centre Pompidou reserves, which are set to open in 2026. For sports enthusiasts, the Guyancourt golf course will also be served by the new metro line.

Its route will particularly ease the daily lives of students and researchers at the University of Paris-Saclay, as well as workers connected to Orly-Rungis, the CEA of Saclay, and all the economic hubs in the area. The zones served by Metro Line 18 are evolving, reinventing themselves, and looking to the future to offer attractive spaces for employment and leisure.
