The R line of the Transilien connects Paris-Gare de Lyon to Montereau station on one end and Montargis station on the other. One branch of the line allows for a connection between Montereau and Melun via Livry-sur-Seine. In operation since 2004, the R line of the Transilien has been running with double-decker trains since 2017 to meet the increasing demand of daily passengers and provide them with more comfort.
The R line serves 32 municipalities and stops at 25 stations. This line is accessible from the RER A and D lines, as well as metro lines 1 and 14, heading towards Paris-Gare de Lyon.
Only the Lyon, Fontainebleau - Avon, Montereau, Nemours - Saint-Pierre, and Montargis stations are equipped for wheelchair users.
The R line follows the route of the RER A between Gare de Lyon and Melun, but without any stops.
Good to know: The uniqueness of the R line is that it operates beyond the borders of the Île-de-France region. The Montargis terminus is located in the Loiret department. If you travel beyond the Île-de-France region on board the R Transilien, you will need to have a TER transport ticket.
