Created in July 1992, the T1 tram line had its first extension in December of the same year. Today, it is the second busiest tram line in the Île-de-France region.
Since 1992, the T1 line has undergone modifications, extending its route to Asnières - Quatre Routes and Noisy-le-Sec Station, its two current termini.
Entirely in zone 3, the T1 tram line serves 37 stops, making it the longest in Île-de-France in terms of stations. The line passes through numerous cultural and historical sites, across 6 municipalities, for a total journey time of just over an hour, from one terminus to the other.
Saint-Denis Station provides connections to the RER D, Transilien H, and T8 tram. The RER C is accessible from Gennevilliers Station. Other connections are possible with metro lines 5, 7, and 13, tram line T5, and the RER E.
Did you know? The T1 line is the oldest tram line in the Île-de-France region. In fact, when it was put into service in 1992, it was the first time that trams reappeared in Île-de-France since 1957.

What is a tramway driver called?
The wattman is the name given to the driver of a tramway. Wattman comes from the word watt, a unit of power used in electricity, the energy source of the tram. Nowadays, this name is no longer used. We would rather say "traminot".
Who invented the tramway?
George Stephenson, a British engineer, invented the tramway in 1832. He designed the first commercially used rail tramway. His invention allowed people to travel more easily and quickly in large cities.

In 2025, there are 14 tramway lines in Île-de-France, 9 of which are operated by the RATP group.
