In the neighborhood
Everything you need, just a few steps from your stop.
The Invalides metro station is named after one of the main historical monuments in Paris. The Invalides station is located under the esplanade of the Invalides, in front of the Hôtel des Invalides.
The Royal Hôtel des Invalides was created in the 17th century to accommodate disabled soldiers injured in combat. The center still welcomes war wounded today, and the Army Museum is located here.
Around the Invalides station
Whether you are familiar with the neighborhood or not, you cannot miss the Esplanade des Invalides and the Hôtel des Invalides when you exit the metro! This is where you will find the Army Museum and the Tomb of Napoleon I.
Across the street, it only takes a 3-minute walk to reach the banks of the Seine and the magnificent Alexandre III Bridge. The Rodin Museum and the Palais Bourbon are also very close: you can reach them in less than 8 minutes on foot from the Invalides station.
The ghost station of Invalides
In the extensive underground network of the Parisian metro, there are 17 unused stations. They are called "ghost stations". Six of them were built but never put into service. This is the case with the Invalides metro station.
Its platforms were supposed to be the terminus of a major line forming an inner ring around Paris. However, this project was abandoned in 1922, and the station never opened.
So what happened to the ghost station? The platform was shortened in the 1970s to build RATP offices, and a historic metro train from the 1930s is parked on the remaining part of the platforms.
There are 308 metro stations in Paris and the surrounding suburbs.
You can buy your tickets directly from the Bonjour RATP application in the "Tickets" section.
To do this, you must first download the application from the App Store or the Google Play Store.
The first metro train departs from the terminus at around 5:30 am. The average time between two stations is 2 minutes.
From Sunday to Thursday, the last metro train arrives at the terminus at around 1:15 am. On Fridays, Saturdays, and the eve of holidays, the last metro train arrives no later than 2:15 am.
Have you lost an item? RATP offers you the possibility to report its loss in order to find it.
Or with an agent from the metro, bus, RER, or tramway network.
In both cases, you are asked to describe the lost item (type, color, brand) and provide your contact information. If the item is found, you will be notified by SMS or email, depending on the contact method you have declared.
Coming soon: you will be able to have the found item delivered to you (shipping service at your expense, subject to the eligibility criteria of the item for handling by the carrier Chronopost, in accordance with the general shipping conditions).
