Metro Lines
The Paris metro was born in 1900, on the occasion of the Summer Olympics. Nowadays, the network serves Paris intra-muros as well as nearby suburbs. The Paris metro carries over 1.5 billion trips per year. Today, the Paris metro has 16 lines, including 2 bis lines, serving 303 stations. While most of the network is underground, some lines have above-ground sections. The over 225 km of lines create a network throughout the capital. The lines operate from 5:30 am to 1:15 am on weekdays. 2 lines are fully automated: line 14 since its opening and line 1 since 2011.
