The true origin of 'Ternes'

Does this name seem a bit sad to you? However, it has nothing to do with the atmosphere of this beautiful neighborhood, just steps away from the Champs-Élysées! The neighborhood and the Ternes metro station are named after an old remote farm from the Middle Ages, when this area was still a large forest. This farm was called Villa 'Externa', or in French, 'external'. A name that has changed over time to become the village of Ternes, and then the Ternes neighborhood.
