A monumental project

The Philharmonie was inaugurated in January 2015. The construction lasted eight years. On the outside, the hall resembles a small hill that sparkles in the sunlight. The Jean Nouvel workshops envisioned "a small mountain with a powerful and calm aesthetic." The building reaches a height of 52 meters. From the Belvedere, the public can stroll at a height of 37 meters, enjoying a spectacular view of Parc de la Villette and the North-East suburbs. The volumes consist of large sloping planes covered with aluminum castings, totaling 340,000 plates.
