Visiting Le Marais in Paris An iconic neighborhood of the capital

Several metro lines serve Le Marais. Here are the main metro stations, with routes to reach the iconic places of this typically Parisian neighborhood.

• Saint-Paul (Le Marais) station on line 1. Get off here to visit the heart of Le Marais. As soon as you exit, you can stroll along Rue des Rosiers, well-known for its shops. It only takes a 5-minute walk to reach Place des Vosges or the Village Saint-Paul with its Parisian antique shops.
• Rambuteau station on line 11. The Centre Pompidou is just a 2-minute walk away. Take Rue Rambuteau and then Rue des Archives to discover art galleries along the way. If you want to visit the Musée des Arts et Métiers, get off at Arts et Métiers station, served by lines 3 and 11.
• Chemin Vert and Filles du Calvaire stations on line 8. Stop at Chemin Vert station and take Rue des Francs Bourgeois to reach the Musée Carnavalet in 5 minutes. Get off at Filles du Calvaire station to visit the Upper Marais.

From the Paris suburbs, you can reach the Marais district by taking the RER A or RER B and getting off at Châtelet – Les Halles station. For example, you are a 6-minute walk from the Centre Pompidou and less than 20 minutes from the neighborhood's museums, such as the Picasso Museum. Note that this station allows you to transfer to metro lines 1, 4, 7, 11, and 14. You will also find public restrooms near the exits for lines 7 and 11, close to exit 3, forum - Porte Lescot, as well as from the RER area towards Place Carrée and line 4, just steps away from the escalators.

To visit Le Marais while admiring the picturesque streets and iconic Parisian monuments, taking the bus is an excellent alternative. Several lines pass through the neighborhood.

• Line 29, which offers a complete traverse of the neighborhood. For example, get off at the Bastille – Beaumarchais stop to quickly reach Place des Vosges, or at the Archives – Rambuteau stop if you want to explore the art galleries of Le Marais.
• Line 69, which connects Champ de Mars to Gambetta, passing through Le Marais. The Saint-Paul stop drops you off closest to Rue des Rosiers, while the Hôtel de Ville stop drops you off near Hôtel de Sens.
• Line 76, which connects Châtelet to Montreuil. You can get off at the Académie du Climat, Rue de Jouy, or Saint-Paul stops.
• Line 96, which serves the Latin Quarter, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, and Le Marais. Here again, you have several stops to choose from: Coutellerie, Hôtel de Ville, Académie du Climat, Rue de Jouy, Saint-Paul.
