Located on Place de l’Hôtel-de-Ville in the 4th arrondissement, the Hôtel de Ville is the seat of the City of Paris government and has been the heart of municipal life since the 14th century. The current Neo-Renaissance building was rebuilt between 1873 and 1882 by Théodore Ballu and Édouard Deperthes, following the 1871 fire. Its richly sculpted façade features statues of notable Parisian figures, ornate pediments, and French-style roofs, while the interior houses sumptuous reception rooms, including the Salle des Fêtes. In addition to the offices of the Mayor and the Council of Paris, the site hosts ceremonies, exhibitions, and events on the esplanade, making the Hôtel de Ville a powerful symbol of the civic and republican history of the capital.
