Montparnasse Tower A panoramic view of Paris

The metro is an excellent option for getting to Montparnasse Tower. Metro lines 4, 6, 12, and 13 serve Montparnasse-Bienvenüe station, which is located directly at Montparnasse train station.

• Line 4 provides direct access to this station from Châtelet or Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
• Line 6 crosses Paris and connects Nation to Charles de Gaulle-Étoile.
• Line 12 serves Saint-Denis and several districts of Paris.
• Line 13 connects the northern and southern districts of Paris, with stations such as Saint-Lazare and Invalides.

Several restrooms are available at Montparnasse train station: on level 1, behind the escalators; in hall 1 on level 2, before the conveyor belt for platform 24; in hall 2 on level 3, opposite the car rental services; and in hall 3 on level 3, right next to the stairs.

Are you traveling from the outskirts of Paris? Take the RER B and RER C. While these RER lines do not directly serve Montparnasse Tower, transferring to the metro is easy. There are several possible routes.

From the RER B: Get off at Denfert-Rochereau station, then take Metro line 6 towards Charles de Gaulle-Étoile. Get off at Montparnasse-Bienvenüe station. You can transfer to Metro line 4 towards Mairie de Montrouge if you get off the RER B at Châtelet-Les Halles station.

From the RER C: Get off at Saint-Michel-Notre-Dame station, then take Metro line 4 towards Mairie de Montrouge. Again, your journey ends at Montparnasse-Bienvenüe. Prefer to get off at Invalides station on the RER C? Transfer to Metro line 13, heading towards Châtillon-Montrouge.

Montparnasse train station is a hub for several metro, RER, and bus lines, so it takes less than 10 minutes of walking to reach Montparnasse Tower. As soon as you exit the station, numerous signs will guide you in the right direction. To get to Montparnasse Tower on foot, follow this route:

• Take Captain Dronne Alley and turn left immediately onto 2nd Armored Division Alley.
• After 200 meters, turn right onto Captain Dronne Alley. Continue for 75 meters, then turn left onto Squadron Leader de Guillebon Alley.
• After a few steps, turn right towards the Modigliani terrace. Walk for about fifty meters, and turn left onto Commandant René Mouchotte Street.
• Turn left after about ten steps onto Maine Avenue. Continue for 100 meters. Slightly turn right onto Maine Avenue and continue walking for 130 meters. The main entrance to Montparnasse Tower is located at the foot of the building, on Rue de l’Arrivée.

If you prefer to cycle, there are multiple Vélib’ stations located around the train station and Montparnasse Tower.

Many bus lines drop you off at the foot of Montparnasse Tower or within a 5-minute walk. This includes lines 28, 58, 82, 88, 89, 91, 92, 94, 95, and 96.

The Paris Montparnasse Observatory is CLOSED to the public due to renovation work.
