Cycling continues to gain ground in Île-de-France!
And this month, we’re introducing several new features that enhance the cycling experience: new parking rules for self-service bikes, bike rentals directly from the Bonjour RATP app, and useful reminders to help you ride more serenely.

Cycling news is buzzing in Île-de-France, with the goals of better organizing public space, encouraging soft mobility, and making everyday trips easier.

Among the recent changes:

• a new parking regulation for self-service bikes
• a more accessible rental service, now integrated into your Bonjour RATP app

And finally, a reminder of the rules and best practices for smoother and more considerate riding.

Good news for cyclists: you can now rent a bike directly from the Bonjour RATP app, anywhere in Île-de-France. Find and rent Dott, Lime, Voi, and Vélib’ bikes available around you among more than 35,000 bikes!

👉 A solution that simplifies trips combining bike, metro, RER, tramway, Transilien, or bus—an increasingly common practice among Île-de-France residents.

Since October 1, 2025, parking rules for self-service bikes have changed, particularly in Paris and gradually in other municipalities.

What you need to remember

The new parking rules for self-service bikes aim primarily to reduce sidewalk clutter. Parking is only allowed in:

• Areas reserved for bike parking without racks
• Areas reserved for bike parking with racks, equipped with a minimum of 4 racks

• They offer free parking close to shops and everyday destinations

Here are some rules to help everyone coexist better as the number of cyclists continues to grow.

Essential rules

• A bicycle is a vehicle: traffic lights, right of way, and direction of travel all apply
• Cycle lanes must be used whenever they are available
• Extra caution is required in areas shared with pedestrians
• Bicycles must not be parked or ridden on sidewalks

Everyday best practices

• Adjust your speed to your surroundings
• Signal your turns (hand signals)
• Overtake on the left
• Anticipate the behavior of other road users
• Park only in authorized areas

Tip: in Paris, you can report any damaged or poorly parked self-service bike via the City of Paris app DansMaRue, which will forward your report to the appropriate operator.
