Objectives: simplifying travelers' daily lives
The end of cardboard tickets is part of an initiative to modernize transport in the Île-de-France region, led by Île-de-France Mobilités. There are three objectives:
- Reduce queues in stations and train stations, allowing passengers to validate their tickets more quickly;
- Improve the daily passenger experience by offering greater flexibility;
- Reduce the environmental impact by eliminating the production and recycling of cardboard tickets.
Alternatives to cardboard tickets
Several simple and practical solutions are already available for travelling in the Île-de-France region, replacing cardboard tickets.
Navigo Easy Pass: the ideal solution for occasional travellers
The Navigo Easy Pass is a physical card that you can purchase at stations and stops for €2.
You can then load your transport tickets onto it, at stations or remotely via the Bonjour RATP app: passes, single tickets (Bus-Tram, Metro-Train-RER) and Airport tickets.
All you need to do is validate your pass at the gates, and the journeys will be automatically deducted.
It offers multiple advantages:
- It can be topped up remotely, via the Tickets tab in your Bonjour RATP app;
- It has a lifespan of around ten years;
- It is non-nominative and can be lent to another traveller for a different journey.
Please note: 1 traveller = 1 pass. Two travellers cannot travel together using the same pass.
Tickets and passes on your phone, the practical solution for everyone
To avoid carrying a physical pass, you can purchase and keep your transport tickets on your phone.
- Purchase: in the Tickets tab of the Bonjour RATP app, by clicking on Buy a ticket on my phone
- Validate: when approaching a gate, go to the Tickets tab in the Bonjour RATP app and click on "Validate" next to the card to be used
And that's it: your phone is your new transport ticket!
Navigo Liberté + for pay-as-you-go travel
This nominative pass allows you to:
- Travel anywhere in the Île-de-France region, using all modes of transport
- Pay the following month only for the journeys made (pay-as-you-go)
- Benefit from preferential fares and free connections
More comfort and no need to top up = no hassle!
Where and how can you get help or more information?
