How do I drive a Dott or Lime scooter?
Before riding a scooter, here are the elements that need to be checked:
- The wheels are in good condition and properly inflated;
- The acceleration and braking handles are functioning correctly;
- There is no unusual noise when the scooter starts;
- The scooter's battery has enough charge for your ride;
- Your mobile phone has enough battery to complete your ride.
Once the scooter is unlocked and running, you can start your ride.
To ride a scooter:
- Raise the kickstand;
- Place your weaker foot on the scooter and push off the ground with your stronger foot to propel yourself forward. The scooter will start rolling at a slow speed;
- Gently and consistently press the accelerator to move forward. Try to feel the scooter and increase pressure on the accelerator gradually;
- Turn the handlebar to change direction;
- To slow down, squeeze the brake with your hand.
Park your scooter in designated areas. Put the kickstand back, lock the scooter, and end your ride on the app, and that's it!
The secret to good scooter riding is to be consistent and have smooth movements, and to avoid doing "too much":
- Pressing the accelerator too hard and abruptly can make the scooter veer;
- Braking too hard can also cause you to lose control of the vehicle and fall;
- Leaning too much, especially during turns;
- Turning the handlebar abruptly or too forcefully.
How do I know if I have a good position when riding a scooter?
- You should keep your hips facing the road and your back straight. The best way to do this is to have your feet side by side, or slightly staggered with one foot in front of the other. They can also be slightly turned outwards, with a toe on each side if the deck is too short or narrow;
- Your legs should be flexible. Keep your knees unlocked to avoid the impact of rough roads and bumps;
- The position of your arms should be bent. The height of the handlebar should allow your arms to be at approximately 90 degrees.
