Summer 2026 works: understanding Bonjour RATP's "recommended journey"
This summer, if your line is disrupted by works, Bonjour RATP may suggest a recommended journey: a journey designed to avoid the lines that, because of closures, are likely to be the most crowded — without unreasonably lengthening your trip.
A summer of major construction in 2026
Summer 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most intense ever experienced on the Île-de-France network in terms of construction work: track renewal, signaling modernization, arrival of new trains…
All RER lines will be fully or partially suspended:

Finally, very busy stations, such as Nation or République, will also no longer be served during certain periods.
The expected impact is therefore major and could potentially affect your usual routes. Although this work is necessary for a more reliable and more modern network, it should not stop you from getting around! That is why the teams have mobilized around the Bonjour RATP's recommended journey.

The recommended journey: what is it?
❌ The problem: when everyone chooses the same alternative
When a section is closed, there is generally an "obvious" alternative, the logical solution everyone thinks of, and the one suggested by apps without expertise or command of the Île-de-France network.
Those lines, which travelers naturally switch to, then risk becoming the most crowded. The most intuitive solution becomes the busiest one, and the shortest path on the map is not necessarily the most practical in reality.
This summer, the lines

✅ The answer: the Bonjour RATP's recommended journey
This is where the recommended journey comes in. When Bonjour RATP anticipates that an alternative will be crowded, the app guides you toward an optimal combination to reach your destination in better conditions:
- avoiding overcrowded areas as much as possible;
- journey time kept under control;
- rail modes (RER, metro, train and tram) and automated lines preferred over buses whenever possible, for greater regularity and capacity.

Two concrete examples
Example 1 — Nation station not served
From June 29 to August 30, Nation station will not be served by the . A Poissy → Nation journey, usually direct, becomes impossible during this period.
Bonjour RATP then offers you a recommended journey. Slightly longer than the initial journey with the addition of a transfer, it guarantees a smoother trip thanks to metro line 1 (an automated high-capacity line).
Example 2 — Disruption on the RER B
From July 25 to August 6, traffic will be interrupted on the between Bourg-la-Reine and Gare du Nord: the Laplace → Gare du Nord journey becomes impossible.
The recommended journey is the most advantageous here: shorter than the other option despite two transfers, it favors metro line 14 (automated, high-capacity) over metro line 4, which is highly prone to overcrowding.
One piece of advice for this summer: plan your trips ahead
